Questions, answered.

Is my email stored? Who can read it?
No email content is stored. Each email is read in memory on our own servers in the EU and never sent to any outside company or service. For your activity log we keep the sender, subject, assigned category, confidence score, the email's ID and whether it's read or replied, for 30 days. Insights keeps each email's date, sender and category (no subjects) for 12 months. Your app password is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and deleted when you remove the mailbox or your account. On Free, a mailbox you don't use for 90 days is disconnected and its app password deleted; we email you a week before.
Can MailTag send or delete my email?
No. MailTag never sends email and never deletes email. It only adds labels (Gmail) or keywords/folders (other IMAP providers).
Does it work with Outlook?
Not yet. Microsoft no longer allows app passwords for IMAP on Outlook.com and most Microsoft 365 tenants, so MailTag can't connect to them today. Native Microsoft sign-in is on the roadmap — email us and we'll notify you when it ships. Tip: if you forward Outlook mail to Gmail, MailTag works there.
How do I connect Gmail?
  1. Turn on 2-Step Verification for your Google account (required for app passwords).
  2. Go to myaccount.google.com/apppasswords.
  3. Name it "MailTag" and click Create.
  4. Copy the 16-character password and paste it into MailTag along with your Gmail address.
Make sure IMAP is enabled in Gmail settings (Settings → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP). On Google Workspace, your admin may need to allow app passwords.
How do I cancel?
Every account starts with 7 days of Pro, free, without a credit card. When it ends you move to Free (100 emails a month labeled, 3 unsubscribes a month) unless you pick Solo, Pro or Business. You can cancel anytime from the Stripe customer portal linked in your account — no emails, no calls.
Is it available in Spanish?
Yes. The whole app, its emails and this site are available in English and Spanish; switch at the top or bottom of any page, or in Settings → Appearance. The model classifies email in either language, whatever language you use MailTag in.

  • Per-category webhooks on every paid plan — works with Slack, Discord, Zapier, Make and n8n.
  • Signed requests. Every delivery carries an HMAC-SHA256 signature in the X-MailTag-Signature header.
  • Triage API (Business). Classify any email over HTTP — plug it into Postmark inbound, Cloudflare Email Workers or Mailgun routes.
